Bait in How to Fisch is a session modifier, not a second rod. Fisch by Fisching is the Roblox fishing RPG (online, C$ economy, launched 5 October 2024). You can cast with an empty bait slot. You should not. Preferred luck, universal luck, lure speed, and Resilience on bait change which fish show up and how long you wait. Equip bait from the Equipment Bag (hotbar slot 2), pick the stack on the right, and hit Equip. Slot 1 is the rod. Slot 3 is the Bestiary.

This list is a role list, not every crate roll. Pair it with rods ranked and the fishing guide. Codes dump event mixes; crates dump commons. Buy the crate that matches the role, not the most expensive box on the stall.

How bait stats work

• Preferred luck raises odds for fish that list that bait. Truffle Worm is the textbook case.
• Universal luck raises odds for the whole pool. Weird Algae is the textbook case.
• Lure speed shortens or lengthens the wait before the bite. Negative lure is a tax you pay for luck.
• Resilience calms the bar. Seaweed is a mild, cheap version of this idea.

A luck bait with −35 lure is correct for a hunt and wrong for filling 40 Moosewood commons. A lure bait is correct when you are selling volume for Carbon.

Everyday bait (crates and commons)

Worms (and other commons such as Insect, Flakes, Bagel) come from Common Crates and Bait Crates. They are the default line. Worms give a small preferred-luck bump and a small lure bump. Keep a stack. Do not open Quality Bait Crates looking for Worms.

Seaweed is the mild all-rounder: some preferred luck, some Resilience, some lure. It is the bait you equip when you have extra from crates and no hunt planned. It is not Truffle Worm. It is not a waste if the alternative is an empty slot.

Crate vs shop: Bait Crates on Moosewood beach are the cheap refill. Quality Bait Crates, Coral Geodes, and Volcanic Geodes are for legendary rolls. The Travelling Merchant sometimes sells geodes. Daily Shop and Merlin sell relics, not your Worm stack. Spend C$ on Carbon and the boat before you bulk-buy Quality crates.

Angler quests and treasure chests also drip bait. Treat those as bonus, not a farm you build the account around.

Weird Algae — when luck is the job

Weird Algae is legendary bait with a large universal luck boost and a large lure speed penalty (about −35). Few fish prefer it; that is not the point. You equip it when the pool is already right and you want rarer rolls from that pool: bestiary holes, mutation luck, or a night where you would rather wait than catch junk.

Do not equip Weird Algae to speed Carbon. Do not equip it on a rod that already has miserable lure unless you accept the wait. Quality Bait Crates are the usual source; chests and some codes also drop it. Save the stack for the session, not for the first bite after tutorial.

If you need both luck and a bite this minute, you picked the wrong bait. Swap to Worms or an event mix with positive lure, finish the volume, then put Algae back on.

Truffle Worm — high-value spots

Truffle Worm is the high-value preferred bait. Preferred luck is huge; lure takes a small hit. Equip it on spots and fish that list Truffle Worm: mythical and exotic hunts, bestiary uniques, the fish you would be sad to sell by accident. Coral Geodes and Volcanic Geodes are the usual openers. Do not burn Truffle Worm on Moosewood Bream.

This is the bait you pair with an A or S rod when the island is correct. It does not replace rod progression. A Flimsy Rod with Truffle Worm still snaps.

Event mixes from codes

Promo and event baits rotate. The ones that show up in codes often enough to plan around:

Coral Pearl	Event luck/lure mix. Use while the stack lasts; do not sit on it forever.
Cotton Candy Pieces	Fast lure event bait. Volume sessions and code dumps.
Icy Fisch’n Dots	Event preferred/universal mix. Seasonal waters and code bags.
Tropical Fruit Mix	Strong lure event mix. Burn it on money islands, not in the bank.

Redeem on the codes page and follow how to redeem. Event bait expires in your habits even when the stack does not: if you never equip it, you paid in inventory slots. After the event, treat leftovers as luxury Worms.

Equipment Bag habit

1. Press 2 (or tap Equipment) and confirm the rod is still slot 1.
2. Equip bait on the right-hand list. The equipped name should show before you cast.
3. Favorite Enchant Relics and Limited/Exotic fish so sell-all cannot eat them. Settings notes sit on the Players Hub and the session checklist.
4. After the session, swap back to Worms if the next hour is travel and commons.

A simple bait order

New account: Worms from Bait Crates, sell fish, buy Carbon. After Magma Rod and Carrot Garden, still Worms unless a code dumped an event mix. When you start hunting named fish, open geodes for Truffle Worm. When you are filling a stubborn bestiary on a good island, Weird Algae. Seaweed fills the gaps. That is the whole ladder.
